Surya Prakash has transcended his artistic career in becoming not only an established name, but more importantly on the path of his artistic trajectory, had been philanthropic in helping and promoting younger artists as well as his peers. This luminous quality nevertheless is embedded in his name and without doubt Surya Prakash has travelled that extra mile to help the artistic fraternity generally. His simplicity, humility and humbleness intrinsically are shared by his artistic vision. He has not delved into great philosophies or critical theories to prove an intellectual point, rather maintains that truth and simplicity are to be found in the most humble objects. A glance through his oeuvre beginning from late 1950s to the mid second decade of 2000 illustrates this eloquently

Surya Prakash: Enter Factories For Art If You Don’t Like Galleries

My name is Surya Prakash and I'm a painter. Painting is my passion as well as my profession and I've been into this for the last 55 years. I am around 76 years old, it's been a long journey so far and I still have a long way to go. I've been using soft canvases and brushes. For a lot of years I've been using oil paint as my medium, but only in the last 12 years have I started using acrylic which dries quickly and so it has to be painted a number of times till I get the final result. I like to paint on larger canvases because my subject matter is such that it requires to be painted on larger canvases. I sincerely feel that art shouldn't be limited to museums and people at large do not like entering into sophisticated places like corporate houses and art galleries, so art should be exposed in places like factories, post offices and railway stations where the masses are constantly on the move.
