Nandita Mukand is a Singapore-based artist investigating materiality to question the impact urban life has on our experience of time and the meaning we give to our existence. Nandita's art is concerned with the relationship of today's city-dwellers with the natural world.

Nandita graduated at the top of her class with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (First Class Honours) from the LASALLE College of the Arts in partnership with Goldsmiths, College of London in 2014. Since then she has exhibited in Singapore and Australia (including a solo show). Recently she was invited by the Hawkesbury Regional Gallery, Australia to exhibit as their first international artist-in-residence. Nandita quit her corporate career of eight years with MNCs like Proctor and Gamble to devote herself fulltime to art making in 2008.

Nandita is an alumna of the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta and has a degree in Electronics Engineering from Lucknow University.

“Communion with the natural world is one of the ways I enquire into how urban life impacts our experience of time and self. In nature no opinions are put forward yet observation of the natural world can allow an appreciation of our place in the passing of the ages and in the rhythms of the natural world. I view the natural world through the lens of a city dweller, navigating between the natural and the man-made, between the need for spontaneity and intuition and the need for discipline. I often use unconventional materials from everyday life in my work. The poetics inherent in found materials, the processes by which I deconstruct and transform them and the final visceral response created by materiality itself are some of the elements that intrigue me.”
